Aberdeen Removals Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps Aberdeen Removals has taken, and continues to take, to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place within our business or our supply chains. This statement applies to the financial year referenced on our website and will be reviewed and updated annually.
Our commitment and zero-tolerance approach
Aberdeen Removals operates with a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and child labour. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships, and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place.
We recognise that the removals and logistics sector can be exposed to risks in areas such as agency labour, subcontracted services, and the sourcing of materials and equipment. We therefore work proactively to identify, assess, and mitigate any risks in our own operations and our wider supply chain.
Our business and supply chain
Aberdeen Removals provides residential and commercial removals, storage, and related services. Our supply chain includes, but is not limited to, providers of vehicles, fuel, packing materials, storage facilities, equipment maintenance, cleaning services, and recruitment and labour agencies.
We expect all suppliers, contractors, and business partners to uphold the same high standards that we apply to our own staff. This includes compliance with all applicable laws and regulations relating to employment, labour rights, and modern slavery.
Policies and governance
Our zero-tolerance stance on modern slavery is reflected in our internal policies, which include standards on ethical conduct, recruitment, and the treatment of workers. These policies set clear expectations of our employees and managers and form part of our wider governance and risk management framework.
New starters are made aware of our approach to modern slavery during induction, and managers are responsible for ensuring that teams understand our standards and know how to raise any concerns. Breaches of our policies may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or contract.
Supplier due diligence and audits
We conduct due diligence on key suppliers and seek to work only with organisations that share our commitment to ethical conduct. As part of our supplier onboarding and review processes, we may request information about labour practices, recruitment methods, and compliance with modern slavery legislation.
Where appropriate, we undertake supplier audits, which can include site visits, document checks, and discussions with management. Any supplier found to be involved in modern slavery, or unable to demonstrate adequate controls, will face remedial action, which may include suspension or termination of the business relationship.
Reporting channels and whistleblowing
We encourage all employees, contractors, and suppliers to report any concerns about modern slavery or unethical labour practices, whether within our business or in our supply chain. Concerns can be raised through internal reporting routes or directly to a line manager or senior manager, without fear of retaliation.
All reports will be treated seriously, investigated promptly, and handled as confidentially as possible. We are committed to protecting anyone who raises a concern in good faith and to ensuring that appropriate corrective actions are taken where any breach is identified.
Training and awareness
We aim to raise awareness of modern slavery across our workforce, particularly among those involved in procurement, recruitment, and supplier management. Training and briefings focus on recognising potential indicators of modern slavery, understanding our policies, and knowing how to respond to concerns.
We continuously look for opportunities to strengthen awareness and understanding of modern slavery risks as our business and supply chains evolve.
Monitoring, annual review, and continuous improvement
We are committed to the ongoing monitoring of our controls and practices to ensure they remain effective in preventing modern slavery. This includes reviewing our policies, supplier due diligence processes, and reporting mechanisms on a regular basis.
This statement will be reviewed and updated annually by the Aberdeen Removals leadership team. The review will consider any incidents reported, changes in legislation, developments in best practice, and the results of supplier audits and internal checks. Where necessary, we will take additional steps to strengthen our approach and further reduce the risk of modern slavery within our operations and supply chains.
This statement has been approved by the directors of Aberdeen Removals, who are responsible for ensuring that it is implemented and embedded throughout the organisation.
